before-40 list

I want to make a list of things I really want to do. as part of a good story. as part of a full life. as part of me embracing who I am, what I love, and making the most of my time here. sooo here are some things I want to do before I'm "tied down". and if I never become "tied down", I guess I'll just keep adding :)

*become an R.D.
*climb a mountain (a real mountain...like a big one, not just "hiking" in the "mountains")
*run a half marathon
*make better use of my passport (particularly to travel to Switzerland, Greece, South Africa...)
*go to a drive-in movie
*go a missions trip - preferably extended, preferably where I'd be able to help nutritionally
*find a mentor
*be a mentor
*read through the entire Bible
*maybe MAYBE get a tat (a small one...that could be hidden if need be)
*visit all friends who live in/move to various states
*learn more about, and put into practice at some point for a purpose, the art of fasting
*pull a real all-nighter that ends with breakfast at IHOP or Waffle House
*take a cooking class

....to be continued. for sure. don't think it ends here.

grateful list for today:

I am grateful for....
*the complexities of my heart (about which I am learning) and that all these complexities are working
*the kind man who returned my wallet
*my social security card (see above)
*sweatpants and sitting on my couch after a long day
*dove chocolate

it's almost friday...hallelujah.

Just happened upon your blog...came from Today's Letters. You are a cutie. Read your last three posts and loved them, love you already! I'm a mom, 51, two kids in high school, who reads Today's Letters. I like to read people like you and Emily who are just living life but learning stuff all the time and analyzing it (kind of) on your blog. Plus I am a Christian too so it's fun and interesting to "watch" young people grow in their hearts and minds. You remind me of me when I was your age. I am going to put you on my Bookmarks to read when you post...you totally had me when you said thanks to your mom for listening to you go on and on. She sounds like an amazing mom. My theory is that amazing moms raise amazing daughters...I hope so cuz I am trying to be one too.

Kimberly - thank you so much for your kind words! This is just a place where I try to process some of my random thoughts. And you are correct - I do have an amazing mother and I'm sure your children have one too! If you ever have any wisdom to impart, please do - I'm always looking for this as I try to grow. Thanks for reading!

Ashley,

I just stumbled onto your blog after reading your post from the good woman project about Christian Men and Future Husbands. I was reading through this post you had put up. And I love your random thoughts and I loved the post you put up. I think as a college girl, I'm always meeting new people and sometimes I catch myself wondering hmmm...is this boy good enough to be my husband? But I guess that's not really what I'm commenting about. What I really wanted to comment about was that I see that you're getting you're wanting to get your RD! I'm studying to be a Dietitian at the University of Illinois! And I wanted to comment about your wanting to be a mentor. By the grace of God I landed on your blog because I feel like I need as much advice to figure out where the Lord wants me to go from here. Thanks for all of your thoughts! I enjoy reading them a ton! :)

Hey Michelle - so good to hear from you! What year are you at the University of Illinois? I actually got my degree in Marketing, got a job and moved, and then decided I wanted to do dietetics. Good luck with school and please let me know if I can ever help you with anything!
